That’s all FOLKS.

Well this has been amazing year! I definitely think my writing has improved and I have enjoyed writing more. On my blog, I’ve written descriptive writing, research, and poems. I have loved working on my blog instead of writing on paper. It’s so much easier and by writing on a blog I can write more than I would before. So I have really loved middle school english but I’m ready to move on to HIGH SCHOOL. So maybe over the summer I’ll write about some of my activities and places I’ll be going and doing. I’ll be writing some this summer or next year.

peace.

Blogs?

Posted in Uncategorized on June 3rd, 2008 and

What should we do with blogs?!? Well I would like to keep mine. I want to keep mine because I think it would be pointless to just throw away all the writing and time I have put into this blog. Also, I have started many pieces of writing which I would like to continue in the future. I have also done alot of research about Darfur which a topic I am interessted in. In conclusion, I think whoever wants to keep their blogs should be allowed to and I would like to keep mine.

As you sleep so peacefully in your bed.

I whisper sweet love words in your ear.

Many splendid dreams fill your head.

Your the only one who can hear.

Your cheeks burn red.

Your skin warm at the touch.

Coffee colored hairs flow from your head.

As i stare and watch.

Seconds turn to minutes.

As i am in a daze.

There’s a feeling so passionate.

Everything else is in a haze.

As you open your ice cold blue eyes.

You yawn with a crooked smile.

You lift your head and as you rise.

In a cute sleepy style.

We’re transfixed face to face.

A bond no one can see.

You move with such a grace.

I know you are the one for me.

winter paradise

Posted in Uncategorized on May 8th, 2008 and

The winter when I was in 7th grade, Z, J, C and I, were at C and Z’s house because, we had no school. The night before a terrible ice storm occurred leaving us 4 girls to two days and nights of winter paradise. Through out the day we watched movies while cuddled under soft wooly blankets. We talked about school, friends and family. We played outside. We stuck out our tongues to catch freezing snowflakes, which melt instantly after hitting your warm tongue. We collect icicles and ate pure, clean snow. Before we knew it, night had fallen over this wonderland. We weren’t sure if we were going to have school the next day so we went our separate ways; until the next day. Once again I went to their house but this time it was just me. We played outside at the nearby park. The slides, swings and playground was frosted with fluffy wet snow. Underneath the snow was a sheet of sheer ice. Under these trees there’s a miniature “half pipe” where a creek used to flow. We used this half pipe as our ice slides and ice rink. We spent hours outside in the freezing winter in january, laughing and sliding down this tiny hill. We “ice skated” with our winter boots while trying not to slip and fall. We enjoyed this night so much we lost track of time. We ran home, extremely tired from laughing and giggling, we got a bite to eat and curled up in our beds and fell asleep dreaming of more snow and ice. Maybe it wasn’t so terrible after all. I had such a exciting, memorable time that, I wasn’t even aware how much I would give to return to that night and have 5 minutes to laugh and slide down that ice slide. Moments like these will never be forgotten and will always be remembered and cherished forever.

It’s 6:23 when her alarm clock decorated with little pandas rang. The sound woke her up in a second and she scrambled out of her double bed to the tick and tock, which echoed through out her room. Slowly twisting the doorknob to the right without waking up her slumbering parents and brother. She turned on the shower without any lights because, she did not want to blind herself with fluorescent lights which hung above. Stepping into the white shower letting burning cold water rinse down her face and through her blonde hair. She applied frizz control shampoo and conditioner and quickly got out and grabbed a clean blue towel. Opening the door and walking silently onto the wood floor and leaving four wet footprints until she reached her bedroom. After changing for school into light blue jeans and a green v-neck, she combed her hair and rushed into the kitchen to find her brother slowly eating his Captain Crunch cereal. She would not have enough time to enjoy cereal when she needed to be out the door in five minutes. Therefore, she grabbed a piece of bread and smeared on some peanut butter. Her mom had put together a lunch for her and she accepted it with a thank you and a kiss on the cheek. And in a blink of an eye, she was out the door and down the steps to another lifeless day at school.Only 7 minutes to spare when she reached the entrance of her brick school. Walking through the halls were still intimidating, even though she was older than most of the other students. But, she simply ignored the comments and remarks because she knew she had a future and she knew she was going to do something amazing or be someone in her life. Most of the ignorant students were just at school because it was the law. But she was there to learn and to be successful; education was important to her and her showed how much respect she had for herself and others. She reached her locker and stuffed her backpack and other books into the metal compartment, only keeping her binder tucked under her left arm. Walking into homeroom, she normally sat next to the window where a big maple tree grew outside this enclosed prison cell which they call class. She loved gazing outside and when the window was cracked open, she loved the feeling of fresh morning freeze coiling around each hair on her head. But today, weird as it might seem, a brand new someone was sitting in her regular spot. She found her quite particular because, no one really new comes to her school because, who would want to live somewhere so remote compared to a action-filled city. Even sitting next to him, she could still feel the freeze which she loved. He did not seem as rowdy as the other boys in her school which was a good sign. She spoke to him in kind welcomes. She did not want to seem totally intrigue that someone new was attending her school but she did not want to give an impression that she also had no manners. He responded back with fluid words which rang in her ears. It alarmed her how poised he was, he seemed like the type who would love to talk about their favorite poetry and authors and discuss thrilling places and experiences they have witnessed in the past. At last, someone caring and with good values. This someone can be her friend. She wants to know more and more about him. She hopes he feels the same. She is accepting him with arms open because right now, she had a zero social life which was denting her brain with boredom. They continued talking and before she knew it, the bell had rung for the first class of the day. And surprisingly she thought that today might be a life changing day and today might be fun.

Rain trickled down her moist forhead as she walked home from an over whelming day at school. While walking at quite a fast pace, she looked into the dark-gray sky, with damp blue eyes and frizzy strawberry blonde curls, thinking about change. She was becoming older each minute and looking at ways of life through a different window. Unlike her past years. She was seeing things differently, having other opinions and wanted to change her life for the better. On the other hand, her friends and acquaitences were stuck in their immature lives, while she wanted to travel the world, live in a different culture, meet new people, try new ways of living and help others in need. Something you cannot do in Suburbia. The same old burger and fries are torturing her with greese and fat and watching all the soccer moms driving their gas guzzling, monstrous SUV’s was making her head foggy with pollution. She wasn’t trying to say that she was better than everyone or was a higher power than her peers, just her opinions and ways of life were the complete opposites of the people surrounding her.As she continued on down the familiar road where she once rode her light pink bicycle down and would never have thought of wanting to live in a totally different location, seemed almost boring and plain on this heavy clouded day. Skipping over the puddles, trying not to get even more soaked, she turned right into her driveway, scurrying because the rain was falling like bullets. As she marched up the steps to her ordinary brick home, she rummaged through her bag to find her key which always seems to be missing. Finally, finding the key she quickly unlocked the white wooden door and stepped inside her living room. No one was at home at this hour so everything was quiet and still. The only sound that could be heard was the ticking of the clock perched on the mantel. The door shut with a thud and she placed her bag down on the couch and plopped down next to it. Everything was silent; besides the rain coming down on the roof above. After sinking into the leather couch, she got up and went to the kitchen to grab a snack before starting her algebra homework. She sat in her favorite spot at the table, next to the window which faced the woods in back of her house. She was daydreaming, while munching on her salty pita chips, of a place different from the one she was living now. A place full of excitement. Like a foreign city in Europe, with bright lights and fantastic artwork. Or a place full of exotic culture. For instance, India, from the food to the clothing to religion, this place is completely different. Or maybe somewhere quaint and country. Walking over hills and valleys on a quiet summer night, with only the stars surrounding her would be the source of light.BACK TO REALITY! The only place she’s ever been was Disney World when she was eight and to the local beach every summer. Therefore, little town America was not the place for her and she isn’t alone.

I look into my eyes.I think and I wonder why.I won’t let you in.I won’t let you under my skin.I’m drowning in my feelings.I think I need some healing. There’s no feeling of trust.I try, I know, I must.Rap my emotions in a jar.Hit the gas in the car.And then I’m back to my normal self.Past is put away on the shelf.I feel like lying word by word.Stair out the window, see a bird.Fly away through the mist.Stretch out my arms, open my fists.I’ll open my eyes and smile. For just a little while.

comments.

Posted in Uncategorized on March 11th, 2008 and

I read through some of the comments written from students from around our nation on conflicts in Darfur. I really found it interessting what everyone thought of Darfur and what should be done. Some comments were about issues going on in Darfur, some were written to the leader of Soudan, some were about what should be done and others were cries to help. I read a few comments from people who thought we should send soldiers into Darfur to mantain peace while others say, send supplies but not troops. I think this was a big debate for the United Nations to decide on what to do. I personally think, that sending troops is risky but, if people are being slaughtered and killed, I think something has to be done! Also, I think the United States should send supplies to refugee camps. I read a lot of comments from people who agreed that we should help the Darfurians by sending medical supplies and other essentials. Over all, I think our International Blog for Darfur Day definitely went well and, we need to continue spreading awarness to the government and others so that the Darfurians cries can be heard from all over the world.

Global Responsibility.

Posted in Uncategorized on March 6th, 2008 and

Our nation needs to focus our money and our support towards helping Darfurians and refugees in
Darfur. Each day I wake up in a heated house, in a bed and, I eat breakfast. Every day a darfurian, my age, wakes up in a crammed hut, on the dirt floor and scavenges for their morning breakfast and risks getting hurt or killed my the militias.
This genocide in Darfur has been going on for the last five years. Instead of helping them, we have been spending too much money and too many people have been killed. But, too many more people have been killed in Darfur, compared to Iraq. I think it would be better if we spend our money on a better cause where too many villages have been burned, too many people have been killed and too many people have been left homeless. It’s our global responsibility to help replenish the lives of thousands of people. Even if Darfur is not a neighboring country or, it is not a country we’ve been in a close relationship with, I think we should still do something effective. Not that many other countries are focused on helping, donating and saving lives in Darfur. But why can’t the United States be a country which can be helpful in this time of need? I think the United States definitely could make a difference and I think we should start achieving this goal now. In conclusion, there’s no point waiting for the Janjaweed to strike again so, the sooner the
United States or the UN sends troops the better. I think it’s ridiculous that after five years of innocent people dying and the Sudanese government are lying to everyone and no one realizes that is really going on and the truth behind
Darfur. After other cases of genocide, we said nothing would happen again. But, it’s happening right now and it seems like no one realizes it is happening. Yes, it will be a lot of money but, I think every penny is worth it. It’s our responsibility to help these people and any other people who are in need when no one else will help. We need to focus our attention, money and help on remaking life in a once peaceful and safe country.

Darfur is Dying

Posted in Uncategorized on February 29th, 2008 and

This morning, we found a game which reflects what is really happening in Darfur and what people there have to do to survive the horrible Janjaweed. In the game, you choose a Darfurian character, and you have forage for water and trying not to be caught by hiding behind bushes and other rocks of that sort. After getting the water, you must return to your village. At your village, you can use the water to water your crops to make food and make new huts if your village gets under attack by the Janjaweed. Another issue that happens in the game, is that if you get attacked too many times then, your village  could get sick and your health level will get lower. I know this game is only half of the truth of what really happens in Darfur. In this game they do not show people being shot and killed, they do not show people being raped and they do not show Darfurians being forced from their homes. This game is not a normal game; this game is what is really happening in moderation. I hope everyone can see and play this game of real life tragedies in Darfur.
